Living A Purposeful Life Through Faith

Does your life please God? Only faith pleases God. Just because faith is basically a spiritual force does not mean that it has no effect upon your everyday life. Faith can and faith should have a great impact upon your mental, emotional, physical, and financial life as well. Faith is a lifestyle of trusting God. Trusting God in Spirit and in truth is the only way to lasting peace and comfort while failing to do so is the sure way to bitterness, pain and death. God loves those who exercise great faith under great trials, persecution and temptation.

Having faith in God is more than just a belief in His existence. It involves a deep trust and reliance on Him as our Creator and Savior. The Bible is filled with verses that describe what it means to have faith and why it is essential. Here are some scriptural backings on what having faith in God entails:

Believing in God’s existence (Hebrews 11:6) – To have faith in God means acknowledging His existence and believing that He rewards those who seek Him.

Trusting in God’s promises (Romans 4:20-21) – Faith involves a deep trust in God’s promises, even when circumstances seem impossible. Abraham’s faith in God’s promise of a son is an excellent example of this.

Surrendering to God’s will (Matthew 26:39) – Jesus’ prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane illustrates the importance of submitting to God’s will. When we have faith in Him, we trust that His plans for us are better than our own, and we surrender our lives to His purposes.

Seeking God’s wisdom (James 1:5) – Faith involves a humble recognition that we don’t have all the answers and a willingness to seek God’s wisdom in our daily lives.

Obeying God’s commands (John 14:15) – Faith is expressed through obedience to God’s commands. If we love Him, we will keep His commandments.

Persevering in trials (James 1:12) – Faith involves a willingness to endure trials and persevere through difficult circumstances, knowing that God is with us and will strengthen us through them.

Living in hope (Hebrews 11:1) – Faith is living in hope and trusting that God will fulfill His promises. It is believing in what we cannot see but know to be true.

Having faith in God entails trust and surrender of oneself to His divine will and purpose. It means acknowledging that there are things beyond our control and that we need a higher power to guide us through life’s challenges and opportunities. Faith in God also involves recognizing that we are not alone but part of a greater whole, a community of believers, and that we need to work together to make the world a better place.

At its core, faith in God entails acceptance of certain fundamental truths and values, such as the importance of love, compassion, forgiveness and service to others. It means striving to live our lives in accordance with these principles and seeking to help others who may be struggling to do the same.

Having faith in God does not necessarily mean that life will be easy or that one’s problems will disappear. On the contrary, many believers face significant challenges, including illness, poverty, persecution and war. However, faith can provide strength, resilience, and a sense of purpose in the face of such difficulties.

Faith is a personal journey, and each individual’s relationship with God is unique. For some, faith may involve regular prayer, meditation or religious practice, while for others, it may manifest in everyday acts of kindness and compassion. Regardless of how it is expressed, faith in God is an essential aspect of many people’s lives, providing guidance, comfort and meaning in a complex and ever-changing world.

Today, our attitude when facing difficulties is to begin to instruct God in the way in which He should go. Such is not the behaviour of a lifestyle of trusting God. When trials and opposition come, keep calm and be determined. Continuing to trust God is the only way to get ready for that which we are not ready for. Any day, even today, may be your final day on earth. We need to be ready to depart. Are you on the right way?

Here are some faith based prayers with scriptural backing

  1. Prayer for Stronger Faith:
Heavenly Father, I come before You seeking a stronger faith. Your Word in Matthew 17:20 reminds me that with faith as small as a mustard seed, I can move mountains. Increase my faith, Lord, and help me trust in Your plans, even when I don’t understand them. Amen.
  2. Prayer for Trusting God’s Timing:
Gracious God, in Ecclesiastes 3:1, You teach us that there is a time for everything. Help me, Lord, to trust Your perfect timing, knowing that Your plans are for my welfare. Strengthen my faith as I wait upon You. Amen.
  3. Prayer for Faith in Troubled Times:
Merciful Father, when I am faced with trials, let my faith stand firm. Your Word in Isaiah 41:10 assures me that I should not fear, for You are with me. Grant me the strength to hold onto my faith, knowing that You are in control. Amen.
  4. Prayer for Faith in God’s Unchanging Nature:
Eternal God, Your Word in Hebrews 13:8 declares that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. In a world of uncertainties, help me anchor my faith in Your unchanging nature. Strengthen my belief in Your constancy. Amen.
  5. Prayer for Faith to Overcome Doubt:
Compassionate Lord, when doubt creeps into my heart, help me recall the words of James 1:6 – that I should ask in faith without doubting. Increase my faith, O God, and let doubt be replaced with unwavering trust in You. Amen.

May these prayers be a source of comfort and inspiration as you seek to deepen your faith in God.

In conclusion, having faith in God entails believing in His existence, trusting in His promises, surrendering to His will, seeking His wisdom, obeying His commands, persevering through trials, and living in hope. These principles are not mere suggestions, but rather essential components of a genuine faith in God. We are called to have a faith that moves mountains, to trust in a God who is bigger than any obstacle, and to believe in the power of His promises. As we walk in faith, we can rest assured that God is faithful to His children, and He will guide us every step of the way.
